Recommendations for PS upgrade

Hello,

I have been reading that the ps that I have is one of the worst on the market and that it could, over time, degrade and possibly ruin my computer. I'm not currently having any problems but thought I should look into replacing it with a better quality just in case.

Forgive the stupid question but do power supplies come in a standard size or should I be prepared to tell the man on the phone what case I have which will tell him what I need? Suggestions on quality ps would be appreciated as well.

Thank you

The most common sizes are basically ATX or mATX. There are a few more un-common ones as well. Looks as though you have ATX but you'll have to check. As for brands the two best (in my opinion) are Corsair and Seasonic.

If you go for Corsair (which I recommend as I built numerous computers in many different cases and it always fitted no problem), then you won't have any problem. If you can afford, go for the Pro versions, they are amazingly efficient, never overheat and are dead quiet too (not to mention they are modular too).

In my build I'm going to use a GS600. Not sure what's different between CX600 and GS600. Only difference I can see is Blue LEDs :D.
