recommended mobo

My motherboard has shorted and I am in kind of a dilemma. I have absolutely NO knowledge of mobos and am in need of one that is compatible with my comp parts. Here are my parts:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4200+
2.21GHz, 2.00GB RAM
KSI M8N Neo4 Platinum mobo (all i know about my mobo)
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
EVGA GeForce 7800GTX 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI

It will not be easy to switch all your parts into a new motherboard especially the processor. You can bend the pins on a processor and ruin it trying to move it to another motherboard.

You might just want to sell all your spare parts and buy an entirely new system (with Windows XP 32-bit I would recommend).

Unless you know how to do it yourself you may spend more on labor getting it fixed rather than just getting a new system.

How much knowledge do you have with assembling a Personal Computer?

Putting a comp together is easy, but i still do not understand y getting another mobo will b hard......r my parts not compatible with any other mobo?

If you know what you are doing and can put a computer together than getting another motherboard shouldn't be difficult. What socket is your processor?

Although it may look intimidating, replacing the mobo is easy. If you're comfortable with building a PC, you should be comfortable with replacing the mobo.

Here's a recommendation for a replacement: Foxconn nForce4. Same chipset as your previous board, and it's pretty cheap. All of your parts are compatible with the board I have recommended.

What socket is your processor?

Socket 939

If I'm right in my thinking that cpu is a zero insertion and he should not have any problems with bending pins. Probably the hardest thing will be getting the heatsink off sometimes after they have been on for awhile they can be hard to remove. Just remember you'll need to replace the thermal pad with another or some thermal paste one such as Artic silver 5.

Yea i know that and my heatsink will b the hardest thing cuz its HUGE and its a pain to get off and on : /
