Hi,
I have a 500GB Seagate Drive which contains my operating system and a great deal of photos and music which I failed to backup.
The actual disc inside the unit is undamaged but the circuit board appears to have been fried. I had removed the drive on replacing the machine and plugged it into a faulty power supply - thin wisps of smoke came out of the unit and it doesn't spin now on powerup. (I think I passed a high voltage across it).
My question: Is there a way I can remove the DISC from the drive and place it inside another unit to recover the material? If so, where can I find instructions? Or is this a specialist job?
Thanks
Mike
