Recovering Microsoft Office

a friend of mine deleted his microsoft office software while doing a system recovery or restore (not sure which he used), is it possible to recover this using hirens boot cd?

He wouldn't lose it if he did a system restore. However, if he did a system recovery to where it restored the pc back to factory defaults then yes, he would have lost Office. It will need to be reinstalled.

i believe he did a restore because most programs, personal files and documents are still there, but microsoft office seemed to have disappeared

If he did a system restore to a date before the software was installed then he still would have to reinstall Office. All depends on when he restored back to.
