Recovering photos?

Hello. My dad went to the beach a few days ago and he accidentally left his smartphone in his pocket when he was in the water. The phone is completely dead, and when I opened the Sim card tray and smelled the inside of the phone , it smelled like burnt electronics. It does not turn on. Anyways, he has no backups. Is there ANY way we could recover the data / photos?
(Keep in mind this is saltwater)

Probably too late now, but you could try putting the phone into a bag of rice.. that is supposed to pull moisture out.. but likely the phone is toast and if it was stored internally and not on a memory chip - he's probably outta luck.

He already put it in rice.

High likelihood that hes outta luck, unless a tech type shop can somehow disassemble it and extract data from it, not even sure that's possible and might be expensive! I suppose it depends how valuable the photos/data are to your pops.
