Recurring Battery/AC plug Problems

I have replaced my AC terminal (where I plug in the AC power plug) 3 times in the bas 3 years. Has anyone had this problem? Suddenly the battery won't recharge and the ac power plug won't work. Replacing the AC terminal on the laptop is good for 6 to 8 months and then it happens again. When it was under warranty the manufacturer replaced the motherboard but it is still happening.

Any suggestions or ideas??? Is it another part of the laptop causing this such as a chip on the motherboard???

I don't see any problems like this before. What brand and model is your unit?

The terminals on the mobo are quite delicate and with the mains adaptor hanging out the back, it's very easy to "stress" this eg:-

  • pulling the laptop without taking the slack of the cable
  • kids, animals,PARENTS!! tripping over the lead
  • sitting up in bed and having the jack plug pressed against the duvet
  • not removing the power adaptor staight(at an angle)

It's usually down to personal care of your equipment and how you treat it, but certain laptop models are prone to weak solder joints and it can be a "git" to repair yourself. ;)
