I am trying to resolve a problem where I am getting a red x where pictures should appear on websites. I cannot see some buttons on application that are web based either. An example is a Sabre GDS system. I have tried resetting IE explorer but Im still having issues. What should I do?

IE, though newer than when it came out, still sucks at displaying web pages. Switch to Chrome or Firefox instead.

I agree with voyagerfan99, you should ditch IE.

Another Solution would be to open up IE and:
Click on tools --> click on the Advanced tab --> Go to Multimedia --> Select show pictures --> Click on tools --> Click on Manage Add-ons --> Enable active X control --> update Active X controls.

Little late to the party but since it was bumped anyway...
It sounds like the site you are trying to view as linked to their images incorrectly. Have you tried other browsers or viewing it from a friends house or something? Maybe use your phone.
For the broken applications, it could very well be that they weren't written for/tested against IE.
