Reduce such high heat

Hi I have extremely high temperatures
When computer isn't playing games/idle...
it is 51 degrees GPU Core Temp
and 38 Ambient

I have an eMachines t3256 except I upgraded to a Nvidia 6600GT 128MB AGP 8x
and extra 512MB memory

My question is... if I open the side of my computer, would the temps lower?

well, 51degrees for GPU isn't that bad, mine hover around 45 idle so i dont really think you have to worry much.

eMachines tend to over heat cause their cases are pretty small and only has one fan. There really isn't much you can do about it, leaving the side open does lower the temp a little but also gets the inside of your case very dusty, which could pose a problem. i would suggest you buy a new case, which really isn't that expensive, and it would solve your overheating problems

Perfectly fine GPU temp.
agreed
as for the "ambient" temp which i assume is case temp, its probably because of low airflow. if you bought it from a company, don't worry about temps because its their problem if it breaks.
