Reducing temps on an i7 920 (DO) Overclock?

I've noticed that things have been getting a little hot recently whilst gaming.
It's overclocked to 3.8Ghz but to be honest apart from the multiplier settings I don't really know what i'm looking at (a friend who is no longer around did the OC) is it possible to reduce the tempreture by changing some other settings without reducing the OC & if so how do I go about it?

Thanks.

What cpu cooler are you using? 2.66 to 3.8 is quite a jump so its gonna put out some heat.

What is the highest temp you've seen it at? Thats a darn good cooler by the way. You may have to look into water cooling if its too high.

I only began to notice the temps recently, that's not to say they haven't been high for a while but I've recently relocated where the case sits from underneath a desk to a more open space with better air circulation.

Yeah, you need good ventilation. Have you checked to make sure the fans aren't clogged with lint or hair or anything? Need to keep it out in the open for airflow and off any carpet. Do you have some good case fans?

So what temps have you been getting?

As far as the fans are concerned I think they are prety basic (I didn't install anything) I'll get some air duster cans & give things a good clean tomorrow.
how do I go about testing my temps?

Running Fable Anniversary as my system was very warm the last time I played (it's not now though??)

Temperature fluctuating between 48 - 56°C
Distance to TJ Max 45 - 52
Minimum 44 - 48°C
Maximum 59 - 62°C
Thermal Status OK

Taking off the cooler and reapplying some good thermal paste like AS5 would be a good idea also.
