Redundant servers

my small business has me planning a server upgrade that will include a redundant server, 15 client pcs, and daily backup with weekly offsite backup.

i'm new when it comes to servers so i need some direction.

I already know i need to have 2 servers, but I don't really know what else is needed to have redundancy. Can anybody send me in the right direction?

i'm already looking at servers, but what do i need to be able to have the redundant server "take over" in case the primary server fails? I know i'll need mirroring software, but what enables the switch to the redundant server?

You should probably hire a consultant to step in and help. You may want to look at cloud computing, ie - google apps, this will allow your users to sync and back up data as well as collaborate and share with little cost and over head.

If you did it in house, you would need to have someone on payroll (or contracted) that would know how to set up master and replica servers, script backups, set up redundancy, so on and so forth. There is a lot of planning involved in such things.
