Reformating Computer

I have an older computer that I had upgraded with plenty of ram and CD burner etc before replacing it with my new dell. I would like to reformat it and set it up for the kids and just put the internet and word on it for them to use and network it to the main computer.

It has Windows NT on it but before that had 98 Se.

What is the best way for me to clean it up and get it ready, How do I reformat? would I be better of going back to win 98, or try and install XP?

Any sugestions would be appreciated.

I have to dig it out tonight and see, was not horibly outdated, I know it had 10g hard drive, 384 ram from what I can remember. Celleron processor. I upgraded because I switched from film to digital with my photography business.

JMO (10gig hd) I would put windows98 on it...98 has less issues than nt and wont take up as much space as xp...my comp shows xp takes up close to 7gig of hd space...JMO though!

issues??? IMO, NT is way better than 98. It is much more similar to 2k and xp than 98

I dug it out last night and after deleting some old programs it runs fine on Win 98. I guess before I put it up I did a reinstall and put it back to win 98. The 10gig hard drive is 75% free and ram was 640megs. I do not know the speed of the processor, I do know it is an intel celeron. I am thinking its best to leave it with win 98 for now.
