Reformatting Windows 7 question

I recently bought a notebook, and windows 7 was already partitioned in the C drive as a hidden drive. Since the OS came with a bunch of programs that i did not need, I would like to reformat my notebook with my own windows 7 cd so its a clean install without the junky programs. I would like to know if doing this will also wipe out the OS partition that is currently on the C' Drive? Any clarifications would be appreciated. xD

oh no thats not what i wanted to do, i was wondering if i can keep that partition but still be able to format a clean windows 7 os.

In order to do a clean install you must delete existing partions, repartition and then install OS.

Hmm i guess i cant do that then, thanks for the clarification. Is it still possible to dual boot with windows xp then? I havent ever really used vista or 7 before and i am most comfortable with xp.

I tried to make a second partition just for Vista with Windows 7. There wasn't a way to do it without wiping the hard drive then setting it up from there.

If you are wanting to dual boot XP and W7 then your best bet would be to wipe the drive you have now, install XP (and hopefully you have found all the drivers needed) you would need to create 3 partiitions. 1 for XP, 1 for W7 and 1 for your data. Install XP first and then install w7 afterwards on the second partition.

If you feel comfortable with XP then why dont you simply just delete all the partitions and make a fresh install of Windows XP??

The laptop has a 3 year warranty, and im not so positive that if i install xp on it and delete 7 it may void it.

Oh come on thats just stupid. What kind of the shitty warranty is that man?!
If you cant install Windows you want then that warranty is just stupid.

Tell me something.....Is it worth waiting and using all that installed shit on your laptop for 3 years instead of formatting the entire HDD and making a fresh XP installation just like you want?Trust me.Just format the entire HDD and install Windows you want.I know what kind of the feeling is that when you already have preinstalled Windows on the laptop. When I bought mine,XP was so shitty installed with 15 shitty programs that started on the Windows startup and everything was working like crap.Even the mouse wasn't working in the SAFE MODE at all rofl!!!:D And there were like 4 partitions and I was like--->

What's wrong with Windows 7?? Way better than XP.

That would be your personal opinion. I, myself, do not like vista or windows 7 and would prefer to stay with XP. Easy to navigate, light on memory usage, and other things. I will only change my OS when the motherboard I have doesn't support it, which hopefully won't be for another 5-10 years. But by that time, Microsoft will have released 3-5 more OS's.

Same for me.I will stop using XP when there won't be no more computers that are supporting it.:D Windows XP is the best Microsoft Windows OS to me.There is NO WAY I am changing it to Vista or Windows 7.I would then have nightmares with so many incompatibilities...Especially for my programming language.Screw that.I am staying with XP.Windows XP ROCKS!!!

LOL you have a really good point. But im going to try it out and see if i can get a liking to windows 7, there are some cool features to it =p.

You can install windows 7 in a new partition and you will get dual boot option during boot time i.e. Earlier version of windows and Windows 7

Yes, you can do that.

No need to delete partitions...Just boot from the disc, choose your current OS location, format that partition, and go.

Deleting the RECOVERY partition is something I would never recommend.
