Reformatting

Hello, my friend wants to reformat his computer but he never recieved a Windows disc when he got it.

Will my disc work fine?

Nope. Different Cd's, different version, different Cd-keys.. Tell him to call the company he got it from, and ask for another cd, that he never got one.

Okay will do, unfortunately for him, he paid someone to build it for him so doubt he will get one.

well, does his computer come with his own key?

if he only want to reformat it, bootable disk are ok enough...because when you reformat you will erase all data on that certain partition, then if you have your OS (XP,VISTA,98 etc) use it for installing new OS..but if he want to reinstall a new OS without reformating, he should have the CD of the OS installed before...
