Hello,

I purchased a manufacturers refurbished Dell Inspiron, 1750, laptop online. Today I received it, turned it on, and discovered that the battery won't charge at all. The battery indicator arrived at 0% and after charging the laptop for 3 hours, it was still at 0%. I did however notice that the power cord was NOT a Dell cord. It is a HP/compaq cord, which leads me to my questions:

Could this wrong cord do damage to my laptop?...Wrong cord info: Hewlett Packard PA-1900-18N 90W Output: 19V 4.74A

Is it possible that the cord I received won't charge the battery, even though it still powers the laptop, in A/C mode?

Is it possible that I have a completely useless battery and shows abosutely no signs of charging? Battery meter says battery is idle, but is fuctioning normally (still 0%)

Could it be something more serious, that I may have overlooked?

Before I call the vendor that sold me this laptop, I just wanted to know the best way to handle this situation. Thanks for your help,.. Jimbo

I would call the vendor right away and demand a refund. Newegg.com has great deals on refurbs and depending on your price we might be able to help yo looking for a new computer that is not using the latest hardware. You would be surprised at the deals we have found people when they give us a price range and intentions with the computer.

It does not matter, if it does not work properly don't fix it just send it back. It should just work.

No.

Yes. Most used laptops will have battery issues unless specifically stated otherwise in the listing. Where did you buy it from?
