reg seeker? how do i clean registry?

downloaded free reg seeker for my notebook. ran it. only went to 99% of scan, but allowed me to delete bad reg files (1500). then my pc had issues and error messages.

needed to restore to 1 week ago, seemed to fix problems.

how do i clean registry safely?
 
I have to second CCleaner. Reg cleaners tend to be overly aggressive and remove enteries they shouldn't. I have also never seen cleaning the regestry do any good for a system and increase performance. The lone exception being removing malware enteries from the registry. The registry is a database file and doesn't need to be defragged. That being said compacting should technicaly make a differnce but again I've never seen it make a differnce.

thanks, worked fine, didnt find anything, using avg, which i cant get to work?
