Regarding CPU advice

Buying a used desktop from a local ad, all of the specs are perfect for what I'm after, but wasn't too sure about CPU and Motherboard. Here are the specs - as I'm most likely buying tomorrow, any tips regarding these pieces? Ultimate goal is to run Fallout 4 and stay above water with games for the next couple of years.

CPU - AMD FX-8150 Eight-Core black unlocked.

CPU has water cooled system no maintenance needed

16GB ram Kingston hyper X DDR3 1600

Motherboard - GA-990FXA-D3 Gigabyte Technology

Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

Hard Drives - 120gb SSD Kingston hyper X -2TB black edition - WD 1TB Black edition WD

Blue Ray Optical Drive burn and wright.

Thremaltake 875w power Gold

Thankyou,

-Joe

Is there a particular price they had in mind?

The 8150 was pretty slow on a per-core basis.

Looks like a decent mid-ranged gaming system, just ball park I probably would pay around $500-$600 for it.

Well, the guy's selling for $800 (he's chucked in a couple of nice monitors, keyboard, accessories like that)
Thanks for responding. I've done a little research before and found that yeah, 8150 was a little sketchy. From what I could see, it was on par with an i5 though. Thoughts?

$800 is too steep for that, you could build a brand new system that's faster for the same price.

Damn, really? I'm actually buying this system for a friend, he was after a quick-setup instead of searching piece-by-piece. I built a tower from scratch earlier this year though, worked to a $1400 budget and couldn't get anything better than this guy's offer. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

That is way too expensive. I built a much better PC for $890, and you could knock it down to $800 easily by swapping out a couple parts, I just did a quick build.

Intel i5-4460
Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 Motherboard
16GB (2 x 8GB) G.SKILL DDR3-1600
MSI GTX 960 OC 2GB
Corsair CX750M Power Supply
Samsung 850 Evo 250GB SSD
Toshiba 2TB SATAIII Hard Drive
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Rosewill Challenger ATX Mid-Tower Case

Total: $894.91

Hey guys! Thanks for all the responses :) You've been especially helpful to a new member of the forum.

However, I chose to disregard, and bought the PC anywho. It's great, came with a veritable craptonne of extras, and the guy was super chill.

I'll see you in Purgatory,

Joe

I hope you at least talked him down in price.

No sir! In fact, I paid him an extra three grand for the whole shebang! He actually chucked in an extra computer mouse. Although I don't know much about what you call the Technology, I was assured this mouse was worth the extra cash.

All in all, happy with my purchase. Thanks again.

You paid him $3,800 instead of $800 because he threw in a mouse?

*snaps fingers, winks at mod* This guy gets it.

If it helps; you made my day, Geoff, you gullible, lovable fellow.
I thought you may have meant that you gave him $300 more, but said grand accidentally. You never know with people on this forum, I mean, you did spend way more than you should on this PC ;)
