For the last 8 years I have never ran into region problems with any DVD player or burner in my PCs. I do use AnyDVD when I copy a DVD though.
Stand alone players, however, are still locked. http://www.regionfreedvd.net/
I bought the Pioneer DV-400V-K and it will play any region DVD.
