Because RegistryBooster (RB) seems to be advertised alot, also in computer forums, it got my attention, so I downloaded the installation file, until I had time to run it. I tested registry cleaners in the past a few times, when I still used them on my computer.
My test-environment was a clean WinXPproSP2 without any Third Party software, except RB.
I wanted to know what RB would do in such a test-environment.
My theory was that RB wouldn't report any registry-error.
RB reported 55 so-called registry-errors.
Long ago, I tested more than 10 registry cleaners in the same test-environment and they all reported a different number of registry-errors.
Why remove all these registry-cleaners registries in Windows Registry without ANY reason ?
There is nothing wrong with these reported registries because they come from a Windows Installation CD.
In fact RB damaged my Windows Registry from the beginning without any valid reason. You can imagine how many innocent registries would have been removed when my test-environment contained many Third Party softwares besides winXP.
My conclusion was that every programmer seems to have his own opinion about which registries have to be removed or not and that explains why each registry cleaner reports a different number of innocent registries.
Since then I didn't trust any registry cleaner and stopped using them.
Register cleaners claim that Windows will run faster after using them, that is nonsense. Every software has direct access to the registries it needs without reading them sequential. So nothing will run faster, no matter how many registries you have.
I don't run registry cleaners anymore, because I remove any change in the original Windows Registry during each reboot and that is a perfect method to keep it clean without removing innocent registries.
N.B. : RB is announced as a "Free Scan", which gives you the idea it's a freeware, which isn't true.
RB reported 55 registry-errors, it only removed 15 errors and then adviced to buy it, to remove the rest. Nothing but a dirty trick to sell more RBs.
