Reinstall Os

Hello I'm a noob and really need help. I'm upgrading from a p4 1.7 gz and old asus motherboard to a new amd 64 4000+ and a machspeed motherboard.When I change them out do I have to reinstall windows for the new proc and board or can I keep the 1 that's on my hard drive now? oh forgot I'm not changing harddrives. thx

given the change is quite significant then it is highly recommended that you reinstall... you may have a few issues when reactivating windows and may have to call microsoft, but it shouldnt be too much of an issue
 
If you just change the busmaster drivers to the default Microsoft drivers before you install the new hardware it will be fine. You will just have to delete all the old devices.
 
i think you should reinstall windows because the mobo drivers will be diffrent
and it will just throw error after error, if your xp disk is a oem copy you are not supposed to be able to use it again so when you go to register it will not let you what i did was ring microsoft and tell them that i was flashing the bios and it went wrong so i had to replace the mobo and they activated it for me
