im currently running a raid 0 config with 2x 500gb HDD.
i want to reinstall windows xp sp3 with a SATA config.
what is the correct procedure to do this?
is the first thing i do when i reinstall is to change the settings in the bios from RAID to SATA/IDE?
then do i put the win xp cd and install it normally?
i have a P5Q-E Deluxe motherboard, which has raid settings running in the startup (after bios before win logo) which i can change (using Ctrl + I) the raid config of the computer, do i need to change this aswell? at what stage?
thanx!

I'd say get your format out of the way before disabling the RAID. So format the disk, Ctrl-I after BIOS startup and you'll see an option to disable and remove RAID. It'll say it's going to erase all the information, which is why it wont matter after the format.

Providing you don't have any data in the raid array and you just want to wipe everything, all you need to do is go into bios and change it from raid to IDE. Boot to your XP cd and it will ask you where you want to install it. Delete any existing partitions that come up and then repartion and then install. How are you wanting to set it up this time? One drive for OS and the other for data?

i will probably partition the first os drive. make it a 200gb and a 300gb partitioned.
so the installation should be very quick, just changing the bios and im good to go with the xp?

Take the second drive out of the system then and then do what I suggested in my last post.

Yes, then you can format that for extra storage or for whatever you want to use it for.
