im going to be removing all of my software from my computer and then putting it back on. it will be adobe premier and i have a 30gb file on my desktop of one of my projects, will this be safe and stay be fine until i put my software back on? i dont want to corrupt the file but i have to due to Partitioning and reformatting a HD. will this be fine???

If you reformat a ahrddrive then the file WILL be lost. I would suggest buying another hardrive and backing up all your files you do not wish to loose. a 120GB would be good, you can get one for 50$.

Sorry mistake

if you wipe the 160gb drive then all files on the 80gb drive will be fine.
BUT are you sure the 30gb file is on the 80gb drive

Also what are you trying to acheive here, why are you formatting.

yes the 30gb file is on the 80, its on the desktop and it not on the 160. what i am trying to do is to reformat and partition the 160 as it has no partitions. but thanks, so it should be fine on the 80 and when i install it again it'll be fine??? :D

are you sure the desktop folder is located on the 80gb, do you know how to check, do you know where the desktop folder actually is on your filesystem????
