Reinstalling Vista

I had to reinstall Vista on my laptop and everything loaded perfectly except Service Pack 1.
Windows keeps offering the Service Pack 1 update, and today I found it downloaded it seven times. And this morning Windows offered thr update again.
It must not be installed properly or Windows would not keep offering it as a needed download.

I don't see a way to uninstall SP1

What can I do?

Install SP2 from here.

SP1 needs to be successfully installed first in order to install SP2.



Try downloading the service pack manually and install it.

Well, its very possible that sp1 is fully installed anyway. I just did updates on a system and it kept downloading the same updates. Updates were already installed according to the add/remove. Windows updates have been acting goofy lately anyway, especially on brand new installs of XP. Many issues with svchost taking up 100 percent of cpu usage. Windows update was using that svchost process.

I got it!

I disabled the Antivirus program and SP1 loaded, then SP2 loaded, so all is well now. I don't know why but now it's done.

I hope my problem and fix helps someone else here.............
