With most softwares except in the case of some only creating a desktop shortcut and no registry entries are created you are starting off with a brand new system registry after reinstalling Windows or seeing a clean install. With those few if you have any you would simply right click on the executable file usually with the "exe" file extension and choose the create shortcut option to drag onto the desktop. For all else you need to see them reinstalled to see the new registry values created in the new registry.
