Reinstalling XP

Can someone tell me how to reinstall windows xp so that it's back to original. I would like to do this without losing my working files.

You might want to try doing a system restore to undo a problem. If that does not work and you still want to keep the data, and you have a set of recovery disks, you can try a system recovery. Hit the key sequence mentioned during boot up, (on Compaq it is F10), and select "Non-Destructive System Recovery". That should reinstall XP, without deleting any data.
