Reinstalling XP

I have a emachine t3882 computer that I am givimg to my brother. I formatted the hard drive and attempted to reinstall xp but I ran into a problem. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but when its installing and says "Modem Manual-Reisling-eM (Window Setup Installation) Install in progress", after about 3 seconds it just stops and doesnt do anything. After about a minute I hit the enter it goes to the next screen completing the install. It reboots and I think it says something about setting up the computer, and tells you to click the green next button on the bottom right hand coner of the screen, as soon as I hit the next button the screen turns white and thats it. I turned the computer off and back on and it loads back up to the white screen. Any ideas?

What are you using to reinstall XP with? Are you using the recovery disk that is supposed to come along with the system or a disk bought later? The onscreen message seen indciates the installer is starting there only to lockup. Before the system restarted you should have seeb the message that all needed setup were sucessfully copied to the drive which sounds like some were not explaining why the installation is now failing. With a recovery disk you probably saw the "Modem Manual-Reising-eM" message due to the installer looking for the needed modem drivers on a no longer existant recovery partition.

I am using the recovery disks that came with the computer. I didnt get a message saying what was wrong, nothing but a white screen. Anything I can do about this situation, or anyone have any ideas that I can try?
Thanks in advance

With a full installation disk you can get Windows running and then go to the eMachines support site for the needed board and device drivers. The wipe of the drive also wiped any recovery files eMachines preinstalled. You can contact their support staff if you have a cd writer available on another system. Tech support will give you a download link for restoring the drive to where it was when originally shipped.
