Reliable Hard Drive Model

I am shopping for a 1TB back HDD and reading Newegg I am seeing a LOT of failed drivers within the past 2 months on many drive models. Rate this is going 1/4 are failing users and I find this unacceptable for storage needs. Is there any good reliable models still out there? I have no problem paying a bit more for a drive that wont fail within 30 days.

Thank you.

When viewing any negative comments, you have to bear in mind that the millions of satisfied customers didn't send in messages of appreciation. Where did this 1/4 come from?

Well of course but on some it was 3-4 pages of nothing but negative reviews which is rare for Newegg. My caution is the with the USD losing its power and companies keeping the same price for items might mean inferior parts are being used to compensate the price. So when I start to see pages of more negative than good (even taking into consideration of the millions not posting) it makes me wonder. This is not the first time a company "changed the specs" without telling us *cough*vertex*cough*.

BTW thank you Voyager, I was thinking of that same F3 drive as I heard it has great reliability.

The Samsung drives are incredible. Speed wise they are second only to the Samsung F4's for 7200RPM drives, reliability they are also exceptional. I can tell you I have had mine since January last year, and it is still going strong, not a single issue

Must be fate...the drive dropped to $62 shipped so I went a head and bought it :P Will let you all know how it fairs after I abuse it for a few days to kink out any flaws.

Don't look for any long-term Samsung support, see this article. I came across it looking for something else. Couldn't find any later updates on the issue. RMAs asap!

Yeah but if Seagate buys it up and keeps the model going than you SHOULD get support for it. Either case its cheaper to buy a new HDD than to RMA it in most cases so its not a major concern for me. It is odd though that they are giving up though even if they are ranked 3rd and from what I read they were just beginning to get a good rep going.
