Remote Control authorisation one-off event?

A friend with a PC was taken in by a phone call purporting to be from Microsoft. She fortunately realised that it was a bogus phone call when her credit card details were asked for and terminated the call. However the man was 'so plausible' that she had typed in the characters necessary for him to take control of her computer (she saw her mouse being moved by him).

Her question (and mine) is: If you allow remote control of your computer as above, is the person remote controlling able to come back later on and again remote control her computer without her knowledge - or is the authorisation given a one-off event?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

she will be fine each remote desktop event will have a new password. she can turn it off completely by' going to advanced system settings, remote tab, and uncheck the allow remote assistance tab.

in future any legit support will know how to enable it again.

i would also encourage her to join this forum and post a thread in the security section to get a proper scan done on any potential changes made

No they can't come back. Normally they use something like TeamViewer, which uses a one time password.

Many thanks both for coming back so quickly. I will put her mind at rest and get her to untick enable Remote Assistance in System Settings to prevent further problems on any future occasions.
