Remote Desktop Connection.

I have two computers, a windows xp media centre edition, and a windows 2000 professional, both have remote desktop connection set up on them (installed.) They are on a workgroup together, no internet connection, just a cable going in between the two. They are not on a domain. XP is 192.168.1.9 and the 2000 Professional is 192.168.1.6. I have a window up on the 2k pro for remote desktop connection. I want to connect to the XP MCE. I have 4 fields I need to fill in. Computer (Drop down, but it says that there are no other computers to connect to in the list), Username which is administrator on both pcs. Password which is the same on both and domain. What do I do to perform a rdc to the MCE... Can someone talk me through it?

Just type in the IP address to the computer. Once it connects it will ask for a username and password.

Just be sure remote desktop connections are allowed, otherwise it won't work. Look under system properties, then go to the remote tab and enable incoming connections.

Remote Desktop Connection requires 2 components, the server and the client. XP computers can act as a client for RDC but cannot act as a host which means you cannot connect from the Win 2000 computer to the XP computer but you can do the reverse.
