Remote Desktop problem

I just installed Windows XP Professional SP2, and I want to use remote desktop, so I can access my files from school.

I checked this box:
remotedesktop_03.jpg

I opened the port on my Firewall:
McAfee.JPG

I didn't know if I needed to open the port with "virtual server" or with "port forwarding, so I dit it with both:

Port%20forwarding.JPG

Virtual%20server.JPG

But still, I can't connect from another PC, except the other computer in our local network (by connecting to my computer name, or local IP, not trough internet)

did I do anything wrong?

Do you understand what you did above?
You forwarded every port to the 100 pc.. then you saying but then forward these 2 ports to the 102 xbox... Do you have connectivity issues? You would be basically spaming the pc with requests.

It would be better to forward like this.
1-87
89-3073
3075-65535

Meaning you only send the 2 ports not specified to the xbox...

Here is a guide I used for RDC..

Yes you need the IIS

OR you can do this the easy way, no port forwards, free.. and very easy to use.

Either way, good luck.

Ok, I've done what you said.

now what do I need to do, to make my computer ready to be remotely controlled by another computer?

and what do I need to do on another computer to remotely control my computer?

but this is remote desktop web connection, isn't it better to use mstsc.exe instead of a webconnection?

What exactly is the difference between virtual server and port forwarding. I've never used virtual server until now.

Xbox Live wasn't working properly, so I opened port 88 and 3074 with port forwarding, and it was working fine. but I saw on some site that virtual server is used to open one port, and port forwarding to open a range of ports. so since yesterday I'm using virtual server to open single ports.

I can't test it right now, cause my xbox is out for repairs.

And does it matter that I forwarded almost all ports to my PC, while there is another PC in our network?

I think I'm just gonna leave it like this:
Port%20forwarding%202.JPG

Virtual%20server%202.JPG

or is it unnecessary to open the ports both in virtual server and port forwarding?

I'm going to school in a couple of hours, so I'll be able to test it.
