removable hard drive? do i need one! HELP PLEASE computer stupid!

hi i dont kno anythin bout tha computer really im jus learnin to use it but i have downloaded alot of music and do foto stuff and it takes up sooo much of my memory. so i want to get one of these removable hard drives i looked up but i dont kno wat any of it means. i dont kno gb kb nothin so i dont kno wat im suppose to buy like tha type or whatever. i really need help i can tell you the computer i have and that its windows me and anythin else you need to kno to help you jus have to tell me how to find it out. i also wanna kno like wat i can n should store on it or somethin like mp3s foto's but what else? also if there is a different thing i should buy to use i could do that i jus dont kno wat i need! i like that these removable hard drive things can be used on otha computers too tho but it doesnt have to do that i jus like that. i dont even kno exactly wat the hard drive is i kno its wat holds tha information or somethin but im jus so confused!!!!!

Well, for starters, since you have ME currently, you might have a small hdd to start with. To identify this, open up My Computer and you should see your C: drive. Right click on it and point to properties. It should look something like this:

Tell us the Capacity.

If it is really small to start with, I'd suggest that you should just go out and get a bigger hdd to start with because you can/could see some performance increase. However, if it is sufficient, you can look into what are called "External hard drives" which like you say, is removable. Here is a list of examples from newegg.

What you want to look into is the GB, such as it being 100GB, 250GB, etc.. The more the better, other specs should be looked into also, but if it's the route you want to take, it could be discussed later on to help you find the best one.

ok it says my capacity is 29 999 349 760 bytes 27.9 gb.

yeah its not jus my computer so i think i would rather get a removable hard drive so if anyone has suggestions on brands or jus anything i would appreciate it so much!!!!
