Remove Windows 2000

I recently purchased a laptop which had Windows 2000 installed. I upgraded to Windows XP. Now, upon bootup, I get the option to start either XP or 2000.

Is it possible to remove windows 2000 without damaging the XP upgrade or files installed after the upgrade? If so, how?

i take it you just put the xp disk in and install xp within win2k. you dont change an OS like that, you need to format the hard drive and install xp that way

Right click My Computers and select Properties. Under the Advanced tab, there should be a Settings button in the Startup and Recovery area. Select that. It should pop up another menu. Under that menu, deselect the Time to display list of operating systems and under Default operating systems: you choose windows XP.

^doesnt that just force it to start in xp? it wont get rid of the win2k files taking up hdd space and may create problems wont it?

I don't think he can... since he states it as a XP "UPGRADE". Not the full software. Unless stated otherwise, that's his best bet.

But if he has a full software for XP, he can try formatting the harddrive and installing it again.
