I came home today and removed a 1g stick from my mobo and replaced it with a 2gb. My computer started beeping when I turned it on. And same thing when I put the original memory back.

I mightve inserted the stick backwards when I turned it on the first time but now even though I remove the stick completely it still just beeps with nothing on the moniter......help!

Well you can not put RAM in backwards it is impossible unless you cut the notch out of the middle of the slot on your motherboard. Did you try another slot and did you try each stick one at a time. If you wasn't careful you could have damaged the motherboard when you removed or inserted the RAM.

Try resetting the bios either by removing the battery with the power unplugged or using the jumper if your motherboard has one. If you really inserted the memory stick wrong then its possible you shorted out the memory slot and you need a new board now. But try resetting the bios first.

I removed all the sticks and the graphics card just in case and i put everything back.

Computer started up fine and works fine now, that was weird.

thanks for the replies
