removing dell b110 cpu fan?

greetings,

i have a dell (ugh!) b-110, 2.5gh which has a cpu fan attached to the back of the case and with duct work, is the fan for the cpu mounted on the mother board.

i would like to eliminate this fan and somehow attach a cpu fan to the heatsink of the cpu processor as i have seen in most applications. how can i do this?.....do i have to change out the heatsink and buy a fan/heatsink combo?...is there a fan that i could purchase that can be affixed to the existing heatsink?

next question; the hard drive in this thing is mounted vertically at the front of the case. is there a harddrive bay mounting kit to mount this in an empty drive bay?...what if i don't have an empty bay?....thanks for your help and assistance!

Well good luck on that. Dells are very hard to work with. Essentially the answer is yes, but it is very hard. If I could find it, I helped another guy with a Dell to do the same thing....but the search isn't bringing up anything.

Theoretically, you could just buy a CPU cooler meant for your socket. But this isn't always the case. But without trying that, there is really no way for you to know if it fits or not. So I would buy one, and if it doesn't work, then you need to do some case mods.

You want the hard drive in an empty 5.25" bay? Or a 3.5" bay? What is wrong with how it is right now?

thanks for the reply..i lost this thread and just now found it. the heatsink attached to the cpu is huge and the cooling air is delivered to it (or should i say that the heat is exhausted) by the case fan attached to the back of the case.

is there any fan i could use or better yet, is there a "aftermarket" heatsink/fan combination i can buy that i could just rip the existing crap off of the processor and straight out attach it to the motherboard? (did i just repeat myself? ugh!). i don't want to modify the case as i have some other plans for it.

as i stated, the hd is mounted vertically in the front of the case. is an inexpensive kit available to enable me to mount the hd in the large existing bay. i need the room in the front of the case.
