removing graphic card drivers

I just read I should remove the driver of my graphic card, before I install a new one.
Can I do this without a driver sweeper?
Which driver sweeper should I use? (I have a GeForce GT440)

Just go into Uninstall/Remove programs and uninstall the drivers. Reboot and install the new drivers. You can check "perform clean driver install" from the nVidia driver install menu if you want to write over any left over driver files.

I have a GeForce GT440 and I'm replacing it with a Radeon 7950.
When I deinstall the NVidia drivers, it automatically reinstalls them...
Should I deinstall NVidia drivers once I've installed the Radeon?

Ah sorry I thought you were just updating.

In that case do the same thing just when you shutdown after uninstalling the drivers swap the cards, boot with the new card installed and install the drivers.

Yes, you seem to keep the nVidia card in there after uninstalling. You need to power off the machine after uninstalling the drivers and install the AMD card. Then go to AMD's website and download the latest drivers.
