Removing Subtitles

Hello,
I have an .avi file that has French subtitles, I was wondering if I can remove them?

Ive tried the MSU subtitle remover, but that took over 6 hours, didnt work and left over 65,000 .bmp files on my PC.

I know how to add subtitles but cant find out how to remove them from a file.

You cant remove hard-coded subtitles from an already produced video file. The subtitles are part of the movie. The computer cant tell the difference =]

you can remove them if they are hard codes, but you're normally left with a blur where they used to be (or you have to crop them out)

Are you sure that they are hard coded and aren't a seperate stream?

How can I find out if the sutitles are a seperate stream apj?
