Renaming Drives.

Hello again,

I would like to know if there is a way by which a user could rename the removable storage drives on his computer? If so, please instruct me in layman's terms - as I am not that computer literate :) .

And thanks.

Skyhigh - thanks.

Excuse my cloudiness, here, but do you mean entering the "Bios" land? If so, it will mean getting another keyboard unit for my computer, because none of the "F" buttons on this one work anymore. That's no real problem as they are cheap enough, these days. If going into the Bios is the order, would my aim be pretty much clear cut, after doing so?

sure whats wrong with ur current letteres

Nothing really that much - in and of itself. I just thought that renaming the media card drives, on our computer, would make it better all the way around (having names instead of letters) to more immediately recognize the appropriate drive for its respective cards.

Go into "My Computer" right click the removable drive, and click rename. I do this with my mp3 players

Thanks Pal. 'didn't know it was THAT simple.

Uh why not just press F2 and rename the drive? If you want a different letter, then goto Control Panel --> Administrator Controls --> Drive Management --> Right click on the drive --> Change drive letter

I succeeded in renaming my integrated media card drives (thanks to Elmar), but I had tried renaming my CD-Rom/CDRW drive s without any success. Not long ago I had to have Circuit City Restore my computer, due to a large problem that I could not conquer myself. They had, somehow, switched those drive letters, and I was attempting to switch them back. Again, it is no real biggie, but I did want to try my hand at reversing what they'd done. None of my "F" buttons work, so that mentioned option isn't presently available to me.

But thanks anyway.
