Render farm

Hi,

I do a lot of 3d graphics, and as you can see in my signature below, my system doesn't exactly have the best rendering capabilities. So I figured I could take a few of the old PC's I had sitting around, and turn them into a small render farm.

I've tried researching how to set up a render farm, but none of them seemed to give a very good explanation of the hardware setup. Is it setup over a router, or would an Ethernet switch work, or what? I'm new to networking and servers, so a simple explanation would be helpful.

Thankyou,
Kevinaz

I saw that article already, and it told what to use, but I had a bit of trouble understanding how to hook everything up. Do you use a router and hook everything together over a network?

I plan on rendering 3d images/movies. I might potentially get into game making, but not in the near future.

I don't know what to tell you, that was that second link in a google search, I didn't even read the whole thing before posting
