Reoccuring 6800GT problem.

Hey guys,

I posted a bit ago that I was having issues getting a dsiply out of my BFG 6800GT. When I booted, I'd get no response from the monitor and one long and two short beeps from the system. I assumed it was a card issue (the beeps), and after testing with a PCI (not Express) card which worked fine, I sent the 6800GT back and it was replaced a week later. I slapped that one in and the computer worked with a little pixellation on the monitor. The next day.. 10 hours later, I turned on the computer and got nothing. After replacing the card, I figured it must have been a faulty PCI-E slot which was causing the problems.

I sent the motherboard back and got a replacement for it as well. Last night I slapped it in and got the system to work (again with some minor pixellation, which was reduced with new drivers). Then today (~20 hours later) I booted the machine for the first time and got nothing again. After opening the case and reseating some stuff and booting, I realized that the card was not powering up. When I boot the machine, the card flickers one red light and then nothing. Normally when it boots it has a steady blue and red light on. (Or rather not normally, but when it works. : / )

I'm thinking now that it has been a power issue the whole time (which makes me feel bad about getting the parts replaced), but I don't see how the power could be an issue as my PSU should have eough power.

Searching Google, I found someone's thread which seemed to relate the same problem: http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php/t15902.html

Someone mentioned temperature as an issue in the thread, and this was an issue before. At first (with the original card and mobo) it worked fine for a few weeks, and then I had to start restarting the system before the display would "catch" and I could see anything on the monitor. I built the computer in August, so it has been colder and colder as the problem progressed but that just doesn't seem like it would cause this problem.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Update: Just checked my voltage with a multimeter. If I'm getting accurate readings, it would explain what's going on... 12V rail is jumping between 10.5 and 11.5V, while the 5V rail is jumping between 3.8 and 4.8. I guess I'm just lucky it's not spiking... :(
