I sent My HP in for repair. I had tried all the testing that i could think of, and was told by people on your forum. They sent me a 2 day UPS box. Fine I sent it in LAST FRIDAY!!. Emailed themyesterday and they said that it had been fixed and was on return. So 2 days Friday and Monday, they got it monday or yesterday, and already have it fixed?? Its already on return (tracked to leaving Nashville, Tn for PTI at Sep 22, 2010 6:32 AM) and should return tomorrow.

Ok now to the question. Since I know it was a serious internal problem, could they really have fixed it that quick?? How relaible is the average repair from HP??

What was wrong with it? Most hardware related computer problems can be fixed just by switching out a broken part with a working part. Whatever service center you sent it in to would have everything in stock. Even the hardest repairs, like switching out the motherboard which requires dissembling pretty much the entire laptop, shouldn't take more than an hour or two with an experienced computer tech. For someone that does it all day long it's probably quicker than that.

I have no clue whats wrong. I narrowed it down before i called Hp. I definatly wasnt the HDD or ram, tested and working. Wasnt the battery or power adapter. We had a vista only light decode that said it was the bios, but that was not verified under 7.
The tecki said, after several hours of trouble shooting that it was a "non user servicable failure" and would need to be sent in.

the only reason that I got an HP was because the last one I had had, a ZE5200 laptop (P4 intel graphics, 40 gb, 512 mb) has lasted for 6 years w/o a problem. However, it seems that the newer ones are just aweful.
Wish that i had gotten a DELL or better yet Kept the L305D-S5976 that i had. That was the best laptop that I ever had!!
