Repalcing cmos battery

I know this is a newb type question , but I´ve never done it.
I´m using a old PC while my MB is RMA´d . Every time I turn it on, the time/date is out by about 7 years. Is it just a straight swap? I mean nothing has been changed in the bios as I´m aware of.

CMOS battery replacement varies with the age of the motherboard.

Newer types, the coin cell just flip out
Some have a clip over the battery making it a two handed job
Even older boards have them plugged in or soldered

Normally you would notice problems in everyday useage and write down BIOS settings before changing out the battery but as it's already flat and you haven't changed BIOS settings you should be good to go.
The worst that can happen on an old MB is it may not recognise your Hard Disc and you will have to enter it manually.

Hey thanks , I´m just about to go and buy one. I think it´s a 2030 .
This boards ancient 478, but luckily it´s just a sort of spring clip. I was more worried about screwing the bios.

2030 seems to be pretty much a standard on a lot of motherboards and everything else. Make sure ya get the polarity right.
