Repeated random requests for password when using Outlook

From time to time when we have Outlook open, we get a prompt box asking for account name and password. This can randomly be a few times a day, to several times an hour.
Its very annoying because I can be using an application and it just springs up repeatedly.

It is not machine specific - It happens to different machines in the office, asking for a password whether the save password box is ticked or not. I've also tried every combination of clicking okay, cancel, or just closing the prompt.

What could the reason be and how can I fix it?

hmmm, this is random but what outlook is sending request to the server, but what i find strange is that even if the password was remembered, it still pops up... if you say it's not specific, check with the Administrator if there's anything odd with the mail server cause i don't think thats an outlook issue

It seems like a server security setting, where password re-entries can be administered randomly. Have IT(unless you are i.t.) check the settings within the server. I am not sure what else it could be. I do not think this is a setting which is default for Outlook.
