Replace old CPU

How can I find out what CPU's my MoBo will take? I have a very old Patriot PC with a Cyrix M II. Is there any chance I could change is for something more powerful?

what socket, sounds like you dont know alot about computers.
normally same socket allocation determines what types of cpu's it'll take.

Thanks guys for your input - apols for late reply.

CPU-Z says it's a socket 7 chip. You are right fade2green514, when it comes to PC hardware I am a novice.

Realistically, is it worth me persuing a faster chip that will fit?

your way better off just getting a new computer or a better mobo/cpu, socket 7 was old when after the wheel came out, you can get a decent sempron motherboard/cpu combo for 80 bucks or so, if u need any more help just ask
