I bought a new motherboard for my pc and the key is not valid now.(Windows media center) I contacted gateway and they said its because the bios in the motherboard is what activates windows... Is this true or is this guy dodgin work?
A OEM copy of windows that comes with like a gateway is tied to that computer so when you changed the board it freaked out. You can call microsoft and give them some heart break story about having to change the board( house burned down- kids ran away- the board was devil possessed) and see if they will activate it.
haha seriously? what should I say? Just go with the truth, my x1900 wouldnt fit on the motherboard so I replaced the board and now my old board is broken?
You have to tell them your old board died. They're not going to let you reactivate if you upgraded it for your x1900 to fit. They really need to rethink the whole licensing thing, it should be for the person, not the machine.
