I have an HP DV2000 that my brother burnt up by leaving it on and under a pile of towels. I know the motherboard is garbage and needs to be replaced, but how do I know which HP dv2000 board to replace it with?

Whatever model it says on the machine... DV2000 series of course, it should have a model # on it somewhere.

ahh i just replaced a mobo on a dv2000 less than 2 months ago. the main thing you need to watch for is which version yours is, the full featured or basic model.

is it the amd or intel version? if amd this is the part number 431843-001

Full featured model? I'll have to wait an see what CPU it is once I tear it apart. Where did you get the motherboard, and do they have both intel and the AMD models? I'm in the states.

full featured has like an extra usb port, extra outputs ect. my mobo was $110 shipped on ebay(AMD), but i just check the same seller and he has them for $67 shipped :gun:

Thanks for the info. I'll be changing it once I get the money to do it. Shouldn't be too hard to change, I've taken laptops apart before. I just dismantled a Dell Latitude last weekend and cleaned it out, it was a mess.

But once I get the motherboard changed I have to reinstall the OS. The fun never ends! ha ha

not if it is the same mobo

Nah, the hard drive is FULL of malware. Thanks to my brother, the previous owner, and he's notorious for infections.

Its my laptop now, so I'm reinstalling the OS once I get it up and running. I want it clean.
