Replacing PCI card with new one

I have Windows XP.
To replace my PCI video card with a new one, do I just remove the old card and insert the new one in its place, and re-start my computer?
Thank you.

What card are you running now, and what are you switching to?

Anyhow, uninstall the driver as well as all software that may be related to the old card, then power down the system and replace the card.

Boot up the system and install the most current driver for your card under XP.

Go into the display properties and chose the right resolution & refreshrate for your monitor. Then you can go ahead and tweak the other driver settings to taste if needed, done.

Current card is NVIDIA GeForce FX5200. New card will be Sapphire 1024-HC25 Radeon 9200SE 128MB DDR PCI.
Reason I am switching is that I am about to buy a 19-inch LCD monitor and I want to use the DVI connection. Current card doesn't have one. I hope the new card doesn't disappoint me; it's an older model (paid $48. for it). I'm not into gaming nor plan to play DVDs. I just want top-notch color quality and sharpness for the resolution I'll be using (1280 x 1024). Do you think the new card will satisfy me?
Many thanks.
