repurposing a network computer to home internet

Highlight client services for netware and click on uninstall. I'm not sure about the service advertising protocol as I've never seen that before.
 
I went to IP Configuraration: Broadcom Net...
Clicked on Release All
this cleared IP Address and Subnet Mask
now 0.0.0.0
0.0.0.0
 
Depending on the specs, you may not be able to upgrade the OS to 7, 8 or 10. XP is outdated and no longer supported anyway. You would be better off just buying a new machine.
 
Yes, I was just looking at the price of Windows 7 at Staples $169, or I can buy a refurbished machine with Win 7 on it for $169 from Staples. Go figure.
 
Thank you all for your efforts. We gave it a good try. I accept your advice on upgrading my hardware. It's too bad manufactuers don't supply the OS on disk and put it inside the cabinet for re-installation when needed.

It would be nice to have an older machine to run old DOS programs and word processing, especially for those that are young and/or with limited funds.
I guess its just consumerism, computers along with all electronics: the price seems to flatten out high, while you get more features.
