Reset the CMOS and now NO post?

I'm building a new computer and using an Asus A8N-SLI premium. First of all it powered up fine right off the bat and I actually installed windows but I wanted to install a raid array so I made the neccesary changes tried to make some changes in the Bios and it wouldn't let me boot into the raid configuration utility (what I was doing really doesn't matter, the machine won't post, please don't question my motives) so I reset the bios to defaults and it still wouldn't let me in where I wanted to be so I reset the CMOS and now it won't post? All the fans spin, and everything works except it won't post/boot...no video at all. When I replaced the jumper, it was off by 1 pin so basicly the machine was booted with the jumper off(only on one pin as opposed to 2...I blame old age and bad eyes)...I can't believe that would be terminal, please tell me that the board is not screwed:eek:
 
I reset per instructions but when I restarted it wouldn't post, turned it off and started looking things over, when I checked the jumper it was only on one pin, not the required 2. I corrected that and now it won't post. I guess my MAJOR worry is that by starting it with the pin on wrong I screwed the board, I can't imagine that would be terminal.
 
It saysd in my motherboard manual that starting the computer when the jumpers are in the reset position can cause damage to the mothrboard, so im guessing turning it on when the jumper i spostioned over 1 pin only can cause damage too. So in response, it could well be that doing that screwed the motherboard. But dont quote me on it.
 
Mine says "never remove the cap on CLRTC jumper default position, removing the cap will cause system boot failure!" which tells me it won't boot without it but I don't think it will kill it!
 
was your system plugged in and turned on at the wall when you did this? this can cause problems. you could always try it again.
 
I did everything as directed, no power and removed the battery...moved pin for about 30 seconds and replaced. As described above, I replaced it wrong at first because my eyesight isn't what it used to be but since then I have tried it every way you could imagine. No cpu...no post errors, one stick of ram, no video card, etc, etc. but no luck. I have the MOBO removed and back in the shipping box, I guess I'll try another one and if that one fails get a different brand and go from there. I'll keep you posted (pun intended)
