resolution & color quality

Ive had this prob before but couldnt find the thread that solved it.
I had to reinstall XP Pro from XP home and now my screen resolution is 640 x 480 and color quality is low(8 bit) when in fact its a new computer and is capable of much better quality.
Ive tried changing these from display properties but the bar wont move to change resolution and the only color option is low not other.

Can anybody help please?

Probably the video driver isn't installed properly. Try reinstalling it.

Yeah...

The weird thing is that XP usually installs a generic driver that already starts of at good resolution etc. However, obviously that's not the solution to the proble. Yeah I would say get the newest drivers as well. Good luck.

did you install any video drivers? If not, do it, that will solve any resolution problem you have.
