Resolution up-scaling at 1080p vs native 4k

Hi there, so I recently bought a GTX 1080 TI video card. I was all for it to buy a 4k monitor, but now I'm second guessing. The thing is, the smallest 2k or 4k monitor I can find is 24". With my desk and room size, having dual monitors with a 27" screen which most of them are is just not really ideal, I would then either get a bigger desk or just go with one monitor. The main thing is though, there is resolution upscaling. Now I'm not sure if netflix really upscales for sure, but with this card I have noticed much more clarity. Also games upscaled to 4k on my 1080p monitor look much clearer. So I'm wondering, is it really worth it in the near future to get an actual 4k monitor? It would be a chunk of change, a new desk and maybe some room size limitations. So I'm just wondering if it's even worth it right now.
