I would like to know why everyone says norton is a resource hog? I just started my computer with norton and am useing 198mb of ram and then I disabled it and started it and I am useing 192mb is 6mb alot of resources? Excuse me for being dumb here but I dont get it would someone please explain!

i hate norton, it does a good job but i do think its a resource hog. while it may not use too much memory i think it is too thorough. its just slows the system down by running constant scans of stuff that doesn't need to be scanned so often. does your computer run slower at all when its on compared to when its off?

Dunno, I am trying to get to the bottom of this resource hog statement that seems to keep comming up because I dont see it, as far as your question goes I dont know but I hear that nod32 is realy lite on system resources but I dont think it has a firwall but you can download a free firewall sygate is a good one!

Well you've got a fairly decent processor and ram so maybe it doesn't affect you. But the guy who a system that's like 5 years old it would affect him. Personally i don't think it slows down the performance but it does scan for silly things.
